Soft Autumn
Muted and warm: dusty olives and golden, earthy neutrals.
Soft Autumn blends warmth with softness: golden-but-muted colouring, low contrast, a little ashy. Warm, muted, earthy colours suit you; clear brights and cool icy tones don't. It borders Soft Summer, so softness is the through-line and warmth the tiebreaker.
Live in wheat, olive grove, caramel, clay, soft brown and sage, with linen and oat over white. These are the most natural menswear colours there are, which makes Soft Autumn one of the easiest seasons to dress: just keep everything gently muted.
How to wear it
Linen, Wheat and Caramel make the base; Olive Grove and Fern carry the colour. A Caramel or Clay tee over olive chinos, or Wheat over washed brown, is the palette at its best: warm, quiet, nothing fighting for attention.
Soft brown replaces black and warm taupe replaces grey. Earth-washed denim and suede in tan or snuff are practically uniform here, and this is the rare palette where head-to-toe earth tones never look flat, because the colouring underneath is doing the same thing.
What to skip
Clear brights and icy tones: cobalt, true red, emerald, anything neon or cool-pastel. They make muted warm colouring look tired. Black and pure white are too hard as well; the whole palette lives one notch softer.
