True Autumn
Warm, rich and earth-saturated: the heart of the autumn family.
True Autumn colouring is warm and golden with real depth: rich or coppery hair, warm eyes, golden or olive skin. Warm, saturated, earthy colours suit you; cool, icy, or dusty-pale tones don't. Picture turning leaves: that's the palette.
Reach for rust, mustard gold, deep olive, chestnut, forest and terracotta, with warm cream and brown over white and black. No need to be timid: these colours can run deep and saturated, as long as they stay warm.
How to wear it
Rust, Deep Olive and Mustard Gold are the heart of the wardrobe: any of them as a tee over Light Camel or warm cream, or under a chestnut jacket. Forest Teal is the cool-reading colour that still belongs to you; use it where another man would use navy.
Warm cream is your white, chocolate your black, and brown leather beats black leather in every shoe and belt. Earth-toned denim, corduroy and waxed cotton all sit naturally here. Depth is welcome: the colours can go dark as long as they stay warm and rich.
What to skip
Cool, icy and dusty-pale tones: powder blue, icy grey, lavender, cool pink. They drain golden colouring on contact. Pure black and stark white are similarly harsh; when you want maximum contrast, run chocolate against cream instead.

Close calls
True Autumn borders Soft Autumn on the muted side and Dark Autumn on the deep side. If full-strength rust feels like slightly too much, soften. If you keep reaching for espresso and oxblood and they keep working, darken.
